Organising An Outdoor Event

Organising an outdoor event can be a great way to raise funds and gain publicity for your company or charity. As well as being lots of fun, they can help to raise your profile and generate a buzz around whatever it is you are trying to promote. Before you can go ahead and start the party though, there are a few things you need to organise first.

Depending on where you are holding your event, you will probably need a temporary events license, particularly if you are having live music. You will also need to ensure that you comply with health and safety regulations – bouncy castles, child’s amusement rides and certain stalls will all require assessment. Contact your local council if you are in any way unsure.

We live in Britain and therefore need to prepare for rain. Even if you are holding your event in the height of summer you will need somewhere people can go for shelter. Marquee hire is available from companies all over the country and prices can be very reasonable depending on your size requirements.

Portable toilet hire is an absolute must for your event. Even if you are holding it in an area that is well populated, you should make sure that you have public conveniences on site.

You should considering outsourcing your catering requirements to local companies. A burger van usually suffices but there are thousands of niche services available today if you want something a little bit different.

Book entertainment specifically targeted at the demographic you want to attract. For example if you are having a family fun day, clowns, circus performers and bouncy castles are all great ideas.

If your event is going to be on a fairly large scale you might want to consider putting up a welfare tent where people can go if they sustain minor injuries or experience things like sunstroke. The St. John’s Ambulance is also an extremely beneficial service to have on hand should anything go wrong.
